For me this shoot was one of the most personal ones that I have created & put together. This was the baby shower that I never got to have, a symbol of the beginning of The High Tea Mistress story & in some ways a healing processs for all that I have been through in the last four years of my life, cos let's face it it's been an EPIC ride.
In May 2020 The High Tea Mistress celebrates turning 3, but for me it is soooo much more.
It's celebrating 4 years of starting afresh in Melbourne with a Hyundai I20 & a few suitcases full of possessions, kicked out of regional WA at 30 weeks pregnant with a forecast of "you have to leave now as we think you are going to have a premmie & we don't have the facilities here."
It's celebrating being a sole parent from the get go, thankfully I have an amazing care network that allows me to do what I do at the weird & wonderful hours and days of the week we do it.
It's trying to create that happy medium between being a sole parent & having enough quality time for my son's needs & wants.
It's also about the life skills I want to instill into my son, if you work hard you can create something tangible, be true to yourself, trust your gut, and so many more.
Lastly it's getting to work with all sort of amazing & incredible people, whether that be our clients that allow us into their home & lives to celebrate the important milestones with them - babies, weddings, birthdays. It's also the creatives & small businesses that I am in awe of that I get to work & collab with.
